Ambulatory

Ambulatory surgery takes place daily at MedStar Georgetown University  Hospital. On a typical day, our physicians care for many patients, providing anesthesia for all types of surgery including General, Plastics, Orthopedics, Ophthalmic Surgery, ENT, Oral Maxillofacial & Dental surgery, Urology, Gynecology, Neurosugical, Vascular, and Chronic Pain. During the rotation, you will have the opportunity to provide anesthesia care to a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatric to geriatric, as well as patients of ASA classes I-IV. Anesthesiology residents will have the opportunity to learn and work in a safe, fast-paced, and efficient operating-room environment. Most of the anesthetic techniques performed here include monitored anesthesia care (MAC),  peripheral nerve blocks, and general anesthesia using LMAs.
